The Salmo Curling Centre offers fun competitions and programs throughout the winter months. Into skateboarding, take advantage of the Salmo Skatebowl, located in the Salmo Valley Youth and Community Centre for indoor skateboarding.

To get further afield, nearby Trail Regional Airport is home to Pacific Coastal Airlines, offering twice-daily flights to Vancouver and Victoria.

Founded as a mining town near the Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway during the gold rush of 1896, Salmo was originally known as Salmon Siding (the first name of the Salmo River). To help distinguish it from other places similarly named, the Village’s name was changed to Salmo.

Enjoy a bounty of recreation opportunities both in Salmo and in its abundant and breathtaking surroundings. Overlooking the Salmo Valley and the Village of Salmo is Salmo Ski Hill, renowned for fabulous night skiing on brightly lit runs that are always meticulously groomed. Great for all ages and levels of skiing ability, the community ski hill provides varied terrain that includes groomers, moguls, pristine powder, race courses, a bunny hill and a half-pipe.

There’s also a stunning 9-hole golf course, a municipal campground, an outdoor skating rink, and endless hiking and biking trails, offering residents a wonderful selection of activities all year long.
