The City of Trail is a thriving community that consists of many subdivisions/neighborhoods, mainly Columbia Heights, East Trail, Sunningdale, Miral Heights, Glenmerry and Waneta. One of the many things that Trail is most noted for is the Teck Resources, the region’s largest employer. Teck Trail Operations is a large zinc and lead smelting plant that has been in operation since 1896. The Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital is the largest diagnostic and acute care facility in the entire Kootenay region. The Hospital has recently undergone a large upgrade/expansion to the Emergency Department.

Every May, the town celebrates Silver City Days, a midway and outdoor food fair. The weekend is jam packed full of activities from fireworks to carnival rides to a parade.
