In April 2013, my family and I came to Trail for a week long house hunting trip as I was in the process of being transferred for work through the RCMP. Tonnie Stewart was recommended to us by an acquaintance and she met us the morning after a grueling 1000 kilometer drive that saw us arrive at shortly before 2 am that morning in Castlegar. To be clear, our family comprises of three children ages 6, 4 & 2 and needless to say, 12 hours in their car seats left them with energy to burn – and plenty of it. Tonnie climbed in the truck with us as we warned her of what may lie ahead and she proceeded to show us around the Castlegar / Trail area without blinking an eye at the stops and interruptions children tend to make. By the end of the day, she had our kids won over and they were hugging her goodbye after she had heard almost every story a child can tell. The following 5 days were the same with an at times gruelling schedule showing homes in the area that both she and we had picked out all the while entertaining three active children and she did this riding in our truck with us. One week is a short time to see and learn an area, find the right house and commit to buying it all the
while keeping a happy medium between children and house hunting but Tonnie made it happen and she did it with the patience of a Saint. She was incredibly resourceful and honest about the houses we looked at (and she choose houses that fit our needs) and by the end of the week, my wife and I truly felt like we had been dealing with someone who was a cut above the rest in every professional sense. Every question we had was answered right away or shortly thereafter if she did not have the info at hand. The drive home was long, but it was made easier knowing that much of stress from the week had been mitigated by Tonnie. Buying a house is the likely the biggest expenditure most people will make in their life but to have someone like Tonnie Stewart with you when you do makes the proverbial mountain a mole hill.
