Shaver’s Bench was named after John Samuel Shaver, a real estate developer and creator of the East Trail Waterworks Company. In 1953 the Armouries were constructed to house a large fleet of equipment for two reserve army units. Today the Armoury is home to the 44th Field Squadron of Engineers, as well as the sea and air cadets who train here. The majority of the streets in Shaver’s Bench are named after Premiers of British Columbia. It is close to Glenmerry Elementary, J.L.Crowe Highschool, and Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.
The neighbourhood of Tadanac has approximately 78 residential properties consisting of single family homes. Originally this private estate-like area was its own municipality. The homes are all custom and offer the character and grace of yesteryear. Many of Trail’s heritage homes are located in Tadanac amongst an urban forest of silver maple trees. Waneta is a beautiful residential area that lies parallel to the Columbia River. It has many amenities, such as the Waneta Plaza, Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire and Cafe Michael’s Restaurant. Waneta is between Trail and Beaver Valley. It is a ten minute drive to the US Border. There are many acreages along the river and a newer adult living community behind the Plaza.
Casino is a beautiful residential area just minutes outside of Trail. The homes are nestled on a beautiful mountain top, with great beaches and fishing stops along the way.
